If anything, this game is WORSE about it than Crysis everyone cries about. SupCom needs all the CPU power you can get and it's still not enough, and you can't revert to "pre-calculated" gameplay rather than "simulated" gameplay to try and make it any easier. Crysis gets off because it's GPU limited and you can dumb down the details. It's like Crysis - neither of these games have any business existing because they're just not playable. In Vista games explorer, it says a 4.0 system rating required, 5.0 recommended, my system gets a 5.7 (limited by hard drive, everything else gets 5.8 and 5.9) Video Card Nvidia 6800 or better ATI X800 XL, ATI X1300 or better Processor 3.0 GHz Intel or equivalent AMD processor or better

Just because you don't agree doesn't mean you are justified in repeatedly insulting my intelligence and comprehension abilities. So basically stated, how about less attacking me, less putting words in my mouth, and more reading of what I'm freaking saying. I don't want to see them dumb down the AI however, I'd rather see optimizations and improved hardware address the slowness issue. I've also (I thought) made if exceedingly apparent that I think it will be great when the average machine can have 6k units on screen at once.įurthermore, I have not denied that this is a resource hog, and the AI is, I'm sure, partly to blame for this. I didn't call you stupid, so don't put those words in my mouth either.

Where did I say that 64-bit is worthless? I said that 64 bit alone will not improve performance, and I said that there's no way for you to know they won't put it out eventually. There you go putting words in my mouth again. I'm sorry it my examples are hard to understand but you started to argue with me on how 64 bit is "worthless". (Its not like they couldn't have make a 32 and 64 bit bin.) Saying a game is based for future hardware that is high memory usage to start with but isn't 64 bit is short sighted. Modders shouldn't show more progress then the devs themselves. Either way, if you don't like the requirements, don't buy/play it *shrug*Īnd my argument has never changed. This game is a whole other step up.įurthermore, GPG is always trying to improve performance, so none of us know what will come. This also isn't TA (which was also quite demanding on it's contemporary computers). This isn't Command and Conquer (another game I love).

What the hell do you expect? Anyone who goes into the game thinking it isn't is misinformed, and if you go into it expecting that, why do you complain? Who is to say that this won't be common (hell, it's already become much more common recently with low ram prices) in a few years? Neither of us can say that. I don't require winning, I require people to be informed before the insult me, or my intelligence.Īs for the rest, you keep changing your arguement, directing them at me, none of them have any relevance to what I said regarding forward-thinking design.įurthermore, the game runs fine with thousands of units on my machine, which has 4gb of ram in it. People need to stop trying to put words or ideas into my mouth :\Ĭonsidering the amount of ram it still takes, it doesn't look like people will be able to do the things they did for TA with increasing unit count because the CPUs can handle it. I am refuting the notion that because there isn't yet one they did not design this game in a forward-thinking fashion geared towards future hardware running it much better than current hardware. They need a 64-bit binary one for the added register support and two for the extended memory address support. It can try to use more than 2GB of RAM if you play a game that is selectable using in-game options.

The point, Inkedsphynx, is that the application can run itself into a 32-bit memory wall. I think if a few killer games came out as 64-bit only, it'd force moronic gamers that strap hugely fantastic systems to 2001-era 32-bit OS's (yes, I'm taking a shot at XP) to finally wake up and smell the 64-bit coffee. In the Windows world, they write apps that could possibly do more than the old OS can handle because everyone demands it.

#SUPREME COMMANDER FORGED ALLIANCE CAMPAIGN UPGRADE#

It's weird in the Mac world, they upgrade the OS every 1.5 to 2.5 years, write apps that only work on the new OS, and everyone's (more or less) happy.
